A Prayer for Fleshly

hide.jpg

Its time for me to introduce someone I’m quit embarrassed about.

Her name is Fleshly, she is my flesh.

When I get offended, angry or hurt Fleshly might appear out of nowhere to do her thing.

She’s quite the sight to see!

Actually she’s very self-centered and leaves me feeling mortified every time she visits.

She might yell a few ungodly words ranting and raving in her self-righteousness or give you the silent treatment while scheming ways to prove she is right.

Either way, she’s someone I would NEVER EVER want you to see.

The only thing the world needs to see is a snapshot of my picture perfect life, not the real stuff that would disqualify me as a “Christian Life Coach”. Right?

So I thought I would share with you today that I’m not perfect. Of course none of us are perfect but sometimes we compare ourselves with what appears to be perfect.

In the middle of “Fleshly” acting out this week, I reached a breaking point. You know that point where there’s only one place left to go…your knees. While on my knees, this prayer formed in my heart.

If you struggle with a “Fleshly” in your life, I invite you to pray this with me.

  1. Linda, I would so love prayers right now. I struggle EVERY DAY guilt and self condemnation for the pain I caused so many people, including my 5 children, for divorcing their father. I know God has forgiven me, but I feel totally unworthy of any help He can provide as I try to deal with rejection from my own mother because of my choice. I feel very alone, unworthy and hopeless. Thank you very much.

    • Heavenly Father I pray that you will fill Lynne up today with the spirit of truth. Lord, the enemy wants us to feel unworthy, unloveable and not enough. That is a lie. Your truth is simple. We are worthy. We are lovable. We are enough. All because of you precious Jesus. We are covered for all our inequities. Thank you Jesus for dying so that we can live a full abundant life here on earth. In Jesus Name we ask all things. Amen

  2. Hello, Linda. Thank you for always being so honest in your posts. Yes, I , too, have a “fleshy” and whenever she appears, I feel awful afterwards. I am so thankful to have found your blog and I am so thankful for you. 🙂 God loves you and I do, too. 🙂

  3. Linda, at first I found your naming that other that lies within each of us amusing, but as I read on it became apparent to me that naming that other that I am truly ashamed of afterwards gives me a target for the behaviors “she” exhibits when I forget to pause and turn to God, impulsively taking matters into my own hands. A name that will remind me of exactly how I need to put my faith and trust in the Only One who knows the plans He has for me and how He will take all things and make them work together for His good for all who love Him….Thank you for this perfect prayer! Even in imperfection, He makes all things perfect! Gonna write this in my journal and ponder it some more! God bless!

    • Oh Mary you just made my day as a Coach 🙂 Taking the next step to put this in your journal and write about it!! Love it!! That’s how change immediately takes place by our intentional actions. I’m sending you a high five virtually today Sister!! ((hugs))
