The Secret to Reaching Your Goals in 2015

0001WI

As we are approaching the end of 2014 you might be saying next year “I’ll do better”

Better at….

Exercising

Spending time with God

Eating Healthy

Going to church

Getting organized

Managing my finances

Building my business

Making a career change

Studying the bible

Fill in the blank_____________

But year after year we manage to fall into the same old routine and never really change.

One thing I know for certain is when you are ready to make a change in your life you MUST have accountability.

I remember four years ago {before becoming a Christian Life Coach} I set out for the biggest goal of my life … to run a half marathon 13.1 miles.

Just fresh out of chemotherapy, a coma, life support and radiation this was a pretty crazy and audacious goal.

I wasn’t sure if I really could go through with it, if I really could run 13.1 miles. I was afraid to set such a goal and believe I could do it.

Have you ever been afraid to set a big goal?

As the training began I had two necessary components to insure my success, a coach and accountability.

My coach came along side me and believed in me more than I believed in myself, especially on those days when I was ready to throw in the towel. My coach challenged me to dig deep within myself and connect to my inner strength. My coach encouraged me every time I hit the pavement to give it all I had. But the most important gift my coach gave me was accountability.

Accountability is the secret sauce to success.

Because of my coach and being accountable to someone other than myself I crossed the 13.1-mile finish line on September 5, 2010. A huge victory!

Because of my personal experience in training for my half marathon I discovered the deepest desire of my heart … coaching. Today it is a privilege to serve women around the world as I coach them in achieving their goals. I love my work!

Whether you already have a goal in mind or you’re afraid to even set a goal I want to stretch you today. Dig deep.

What is that one goal you wish more than anything to achieve next year?

    • Hi Dorothy! That’s a great goal. What would that look like for each area? I want to encourage you to write this down on paper and get as specific as possible.

  1. The one goal (well maybe two goals) I want to achieve more than anything in 2015 is to lose weight (yes, I have a set amount of weight but would rather not share it here) and become more successful in my two home businesses.

Thanks for all the encouragement Linda.

    • I think that’s great Dawn that you have decided exactly how much weight you will loose next year. In your business be sure to set specific measurable goals to keep you moving clearly in the right direction. 🙂

  2. Linda, my goal for 2015 is to follow up with my own healthcare. I have spent so much time in my efforts to support family and friends and in all my community work that I have let my own health go unnourished and unchecked. Been thinking about it a lot lately and the thoughts of what I might not want to hear but your post has encouraged me to get on the phone tomorrow… find a doctor and make that first appointment. One step at a time. With God all things are possible. God bless!

  3. My goal is to stop stressing over my outer appearance and pray to God for my inner peace walking with Him.

    • That’s awesome Sharon! I want to encourage you to spend time soaking up who He says you are and not what the world tells us. I believe in you. This is your year to break this cycle. ((hugs))

  4. Thanks Linda: I want to rid myself of all the lies I’ve been believing and concentrate on what God says about me.

  5. My goal for 2015 is the same as it has been for the last better time management. So I know that people I work with are aware of dedication to them by responding within 24hrs. The thing that is different this year is I am going be intentional about setting time aside so I know I have space in my day to do what I need to. If my schedule looks like these things are not going to fit rely on God to open up my schedule. Now I better get back to catching up on what I can while it is still 2014!

  6. My goal to achieve in 2015 is to walk as close to God as I can get and learn more about Him then I did in 2014.Merry Christmas Linda!

  7. I have another goal. That goal is to feel better. I haven’t felt so good in so long. This year I got an invitation to go spend Thanksgiving with my daughter and her husband. I felt so bad I had to cancel. Now, I have an invitation to go spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my son’s family. I have never spent a Christmas with their family before or seen my granddaughter open her presents. I’m still not feeling good and I’m going to have to cancel. I’ve longed to see this for a long time and now I’m going to have to cancel. I don’t do anything that takes more than a 1/2 hour at a time. It seems like forever since I’ve gone to church regularly. I need to lose between 60 and 70 lbs. and I just keep going up in weight. Merry Christmas. Sharon
