Don’t Give Up

I messed up. I mean really really messed up.

It’s one of those times when I took a long hard look at myself and saw my outright mess, rebellion and disobedience staring me face to face. How could I let it get to this point I ask myself?

Regret, shame, guilt, condemnation weighed heavy on my mind.

Ugh.

Can you relate? Have you ever had these same thoughts and feelings?

What do you do when you struggle with these kinds of emotions? Feelings that tell you how awful you are? Do agree with them? Do you have strength to fight them off? If you agree with these demeaning feelings, you’re only going to sink deeper and deeper in the pit of shame. But how in the world do you not allow these thoughts and feelings to control you?

This whole “feelings battle” is something that we will deal with our entire life. It is a war that never goes away and that is why we must learn how to fight it. To know how to fight effectively to win a battle it takes training. Also knowing the opponent you are fighting is key. It is when we don’t know who we are fighting that we are in great danger.

Recently after engaging with this “feelings battle” yet again, I found myself sinking quickly into that pit of shame. In the midst of all my emotions I allowed myself to wallow in them. I knew it was not a good place to be. After about 48 hours of letting myself agree with my feelings and sink deeper into the pit, I noticed even while in my misery I was still putting one foot in front of the other the whole time. I was fighting the battle even though I felt like I was falling deeper.

How was I actually fighting? I kept pursuing God through His word. It was not easy, and I did not immediately “feel” better. I still felt a heaviness of regret and shame through the process. But I did not quit. As I continued moving forward while feeling weighed down, God began showing me clearly, He was here with me every step of the way.

Text message, after text message were unexpectedly popping up left and right. Friends, mentors, clients, and even strangers were speaking life into me. They were speaking the very words of God to me to remind me that God loved me, and He was proud of me. God showed me through them that He was still using me for His divine purpose even in the middle of my mess. He showed me that His grace and forgiveness was irrevocable. That is what the blood covenant is all about.

Dear reader, I share this with you today to first encourage you. Don’t give up on yourself. God loves you and He will never reject you or give up on you. Extend the same love and grace to yourself as He does. Secondly, always remember you are in a battle and the enemy is sneaky trying to still your joy. Do not give him a foothold. Continue to fill your mind with truth every single day. READ THE BIBLE. Find ways to incorporate more scripture throughout your day. For example, download a bible app such as YouVersion on your phone that will notify you with a scripture verse for the day or place scripture around your home. Building a stronger intimate relationship with Christ doesn’t come by chance, it takes intention, but the rewards are far greater than anything you can dare to ask or imagine.

TAKE ACTION: Take the next 5 minutes to add scripture to your life. Place scripture around your home, download a Bible App or replace your phone screen saver with a verse. It’s the little things that will help you renew your mind and create deeper intimacy with Christ.

Seeing Jesus

How do you see Jesus? When you close your eyes, how do you visualize our teacher, our Rabbi, our healer, our friend, our King, our deliverer, our Savior?

For as long as I can remember when I think about being in the presence of Jesus, I see us walking together outside and taking time to sit down for an intimate conversation. He’s in a soft white robe. He has a radiance about him. Often times he takes me in his arms and hugs me with an indescribable love. His smile speaks a thousand words. It’s contagious. His eyes sparkle with joy, compassion, gentleness, and excitement. It’s like I’m looking into a deep sea of love.

When I’m with Jesus I feel loved. He is proud of me. He is overjoyed with every detail about me. I am perfect when I’m with him. I don’t need to change anything about me. When I’m settled in this place with Jesus, I am the most confident. I don’t question my value, my worth, my abilities, my purpose, or my life.

In the presence of Jesus, I rest.

It’s vital in growing our relationship with Christ that we take time to intentionally connect with Him visually, that we see Him with the eyes of our heart. Ephesians 1:18 tells us, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people”. This gives me unshakable confidence in myself and my identity when I see Him through the eyes of my heart.

I want to invite you today to set a timer for five minutes, close your eyes and spend time with Jesus. Be sure to have a journal nearby so you can write down anything you see or hear Him speaking to you. This is a great way to begin dialoging with God. And even if this is something that you’ve never done before or you think it’s not for you, I challenge you to go for it! You just might be surprised how Jesus shows up. He’s ready to meet with you friend. Enjoy building a deeper intimate relationship with Christ!

God Needs You

When I was journaling this week, I asked God, “What do you think about me?” His response was filled with such loving and sweet life-giving words that it made me feel seen, chosen, unique, and very needed in the world. As He spoke to me through pen on paper, His presence overwhelmed me with peace.

I continued to write in my journal, and I knew the words were not only for me, but for YOU, yes YOU dear reader. I believe God is speaking to you as you read these words right now and this is what He is longing for you to know …

Your life matters. Your voice matters. Your words matter. Your story matters. I need you. I need you to use all your unique gifts to reach the people I’ve chosen for you to reach. I need every child of mine to use their gifts so that I can speak through them. Every voice put together creates my megaphone to the world!

Friend, do you hear that God needs you? He needs me. He needs us to be His mouthpiece to the world.

One-way God often speaks to us is through an echo. When we hear something over and over that is a way God is speaking to us. For example, when you hear a message from a pastor or leader and later you find yourself in a conversation with a friend and you hear them repeating the same thing, that is God speaking and confirming His voice through the echo of another.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve compared yourself to so many others in the world. I’ve had thoughts like my voice really doesn’t matter or look at how successful they are, little ole me is not “that important”. Can you relate? Well friend, that is just not true. Those are lies the enemy likes to whisper in our ear. The truth is, we do matter and God needs us! It is a great big world and God needs every single one of us on the battlefield speaking life and love into others.

So my friend, what will you do with this revelation? I want to invite you to grab a journal and ask God. Maybe begin by writing out one of these questions to Him:

God, what do you think about me?

God, what gifts do you see in me?

God, whose life do I need to speak into today?

After writing out a question to God, continue writing. He will speak to you. I recently finished the book Dialog With God: Opening The Door To Two-Way Prayer in my KINEO Ministry Training Class. I highly recommend it to learn more about journaling with God.

Giving You Faith

I want to impart faith into you today. I am here living and breathing, alive and well to share that you my friend must have faith and believe the Lord! The reason I say that is because it was nine years ago that I was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer, ended up in a coma on life support and given less than a 5% chance of survival. The doctor said it would take divine intervention to heal me. My friends, family and my amazing husband had faith to believe that our Lord was going to heal me. And that is exactly what God did. Not only did I come through the cancer and coma, they said I would not walk again or breathe again on my own and one year later I ran my very first half marathon with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team In Training. Here I am before you today, as healthy as can be.

I want to share a scripture and prayer with you. One thing I know for certain is that the Lord hears our prayers and answers them. Jesus said in Matthew 17:20 “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Nothing ever is impossible with God. I want to encourage you and challenge you no matter what you are going through to have faith my friend. Have that child like faith. Even when you see what is in front of you and really have no idea how you are going to be healed or how a relationship will be mended. Choose to believe God and have faith that He will take care of it.

Heavenly Father I thank you for everyone watching this video. Thank you Jesus that we can ask and pray for anything in your name and that it will be done. Lord I pray for everyone here to have child like faith. I pray against the years of struggle, worry, fear, anxiety, and questioning Lord. I pray today is a new beginning and that they step out in your faith and they believe you, trust you and your word no matter what they see in front of them. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Lord. Thank you Holy Spirit. It’s in Jesus Christ name we pray. Amen. God bless you.

An Invitation

Many people go to church and do the “Christian thing” but might not have fully surrendered their life over to Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9 says if you declare with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved. To be honest with you years ago I would speak that but I didn’t believe it in my heart. That was my struggle. I would like to pray for anyone watching this video that is struggling to believe. Lord please help them to believe.

I promise you don’t have to have it all figured out or really understand it all but if you profess with your mouth today that I believe Jesus is Lord and God raised him from the dead to save my life, you will be saved. You will not only have joy here, but you will have life in eternity. That’s what its all about! Having life now and living it to the fullest and living forever in eternity with everyone you love and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

I hope you will take me up on this invitation and join me along this journey. I know sometimes that it can feel scary and you might think moving forward that you have to do everything perfectly, but that is not the case, that is why we have Jesus. We are going to do things imperfect every single day. It’s not about you being perfect anymore but allowing Jesus Christ to be perfect in and through you. I love hearing from you and how I can pray for you! How To Pray

Do you love prayer or is prayer really just not your thing?

If you’re really not sure what prayer is all about, it is just a simple conversation with the Lord. You can talk with the Lord just like you are talking to a friend by talking out loud. Often times I pray alone. I sit in my “come to Jesus” chair and talk out loud with the Lord. Prayer is also when you are quiet and still, you are able to hear from the Lord. It is that gut feeling, that deep knowing and He will bring thoughts to your mind and what He is trying to speak into your life. There are also prayers that we can read from the bible or prayers that others have wrote in books. I have prayers that I wrote in my book Worthy of a Miracle. And one of my favorite ways to pray is through a spiritual language or speaking in tongues. I will share more on this in the weeks ahead.

Hearing God

Our minds are a very powerful tool. It is critical to discern the difference between the voices we are hearing in our mind. Is it our voice, God’s voice, or the enemy’s voice we are listening to? In Romans 12:2 it says to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, then you will know God’s good and perfect will for your life. So how do we do that? The first thing the we must do is to take note of what you are putting into your mind. What are you listening to, looking at and reading? What are you letting into your mind? It is important to intentionally put the good things into your mind, to put God’s voice into your mind.

So what is God’s voice? We know in black and white that it is His word, the bible. And that is why it is so important to read the bible every single day. It doesn’t matter how much you read, you can simply meditate on just one verse. What do I mean by mediating? Mediating means to read it, to speak it, to sit and think on it over and over.

The verse I’ve been meditating on recently is Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.” So what I do is take that verse and rewrite it, I read it, I speak it, I put it on my phone wallpaper, I share it all over social media … I make sure that it is everywhere so that it is at the front of my mind. In the weeks ahead I will share more with you about reseting your mindset. One book that I recommend everyone to read is Joyce Meyer’s The Battlefield of the Mind.
