Are You at Peace With Yourself?

I was listening to Joyce Meyer the other day and as always she spoke brilliantly into my life. She said,

mtnpeace

I don’t know about you, but I could list a dozen things I do not like about myself.

Isn’t that sad?

The one thing I’ve wrestled with most of my life or should I say “the thorn in my flesh” is my critical spirit towards myself.

The one thing I love to do more than anything in the world is to build others up with encouraging and motivating words, but so many times I tend to tear myself apart.

I am ready to make peace with those critical thoughts, but how?

Last weekend my Pastor said to treat our thoughts like a prisoner of war. Interrogate them. Immediately when a thought pops in our mind ask it, “Where did you come from?” and “Who sent you?” And if it does not align with God’s truth then take it captive. Do not let those negative thoughts lead you. You are supposed to lead them.

It’s time to stop being intimidated, fearful, ashamed, condemned by what you don’t like about yourself, instead make peace with it. You might need to get a little creative but remember you already have a spirit of self-control that lives inside of you. It’s waiting to be activated.

Join me today and begin to take hold of those thoughts. Leave a comment below and let me know what you are making peace with.

Life After Cancer

fampic

Sometimes I notice the bright crystal blue sky and the fluffy white clouds.

Some days I slow down and breath in the fresh air as tears well up inside me with gratitude.

Some mornings I sit with my daughter and hold her hand taking in the gift of another day with her.

Some evenings I look around my house and notice how my husband has yet again picked up the kitchen and tidied up the counters before heading to bed.

Some days I listen in amazement as a friend gushes with thankfulness for all
God is doing in her life.

And then….

Sometimes I forget that I’m a survivor and miss the blessings right in front of me.

Some days I rush through my day and stress about trivial things.

Some mornings I wake up grumpy and feel down in the dumps.

Some evenings I veg out in front of the TV wasting hours until time to go to bed.

Either way….

Today I’m pausing to say I am grateful for the life I’ve been given and for you reading this page.

Today is a gift so let’s make it count!

Leave me a comment and let me know how you will make today count.

I currently have a waiting list, however I will have appointments opening up in mid September. I want to encourage you that there is hope and a new way of life through Christian Life Coaching. ((hugs))

What Are You Hoping For?

hope

Are you hoping this school year will be the best yet for your kids?

Are you hoping to get ahead financially?

Are you hoping you’ll get your act together and take better care of yourself?

Are you hoping for that promotion?

Every single day we are hoping, hoping, hoping. Do you agree?

Even if it’s for those little things like getting a front row parking spot at the grocery store or not having to wait in line forever at Target to make a return, we are constantly hoping.

So what are you doing with all those hopes? And better yet what do you do while waiting on them to be answered?

Do you fret, worry, and complain if they are not immediately answered? Or do you get angry, bitter or even resentful?

I came across a verse this morning that caused me to pause and do a little bit of soul-searching.

“But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” Romans 8:25

Yikes! That one little word, patiently is what caused me to take a really big breath and reflect on all that I’ve been hoping for the past few months.

Lord knows I have been anything but patient! If anything I could replace it with controlling, obsessing and pretty much just freaking out.

Please tell me I’m not the only one that gets a little loopty loo when it comes to waiting?

All I can say is thank God for grace. No matter how I act or behave His love is the same yesterday, today and forever. Can I get an Amen for Jesus?

So what are you hoping for? What will you do if you have to wait? Will you tuck away Romans 8:25 in your heart as a reminder?

Lord, we come to you today and lay our hopes at your feet as we wait patiently and faithfully. In Jesus Name we pray~

How Are You Doing Friend?

bench.jpg

Hi sweet friend!

How have you been doing this summer?

Seriously, how have you really been this summer?

A few days ago I received an unexpected text message from a very good friend of mine that I haven’t seen in a while. This is how the conversation went.

{Friend} Hi Linda! How’s your summer going?

{Me} Great! How about yours?

{Friend} I’ve had a tough few weeks but got a new perspective so I’m doing much better now! …..

As the conversation continued, I became aware that my first response was completely superficial. I had my guard up, but in the pit of my stomach I knew everything had not been what I would call “great”. For some reason though I felt the need to come across as happy-go-lucky, life is perfect.

Have you ever done that?

Sometimes I think we get it in our minds that because we are Christians we need to appear like we’ve got it all together.

And you know what’s even worse than that?

When we approach our relationship with God in the same manner. Even though God knows us way better than we know ourselves, keeping this kind of wall up is really not good for the heart.

Do you happen to have any walls up?

Really think about it for a moment. Search your soul. Is there anything that might be a little blocked off?

If so, I want to encourage you today to let your guard down and spill your guts out to God.

All you need to do is find a quiet place where you can meet with Him alone. Talk to him. I mean really talk to Him, out loud just as if He was sitting across from you. Don’t be afraid to share with Him what’s been pulling at your heartstrings these past few weeks. Don’t hold anything back. You might even need to shed a few tears.

Then, wait and listen to see what He has for you.

{Remember He is always our greatest counselor and comforter. He watches over us, instructs us and teaches us in the way we should go.} Psalm 32:8

So sweet friend, how are you {really} doing this summer? I’d love to hear from you. Leave me a comment below.

What Are You Thinking About?

psalm11824.jpg

What have you been thinking about today?

Have you thought about what a kind genuine person you are?

Or how much you continue to influence others with your insightful words of encouragement?

Are you thinking about the ways you have impacted countless souls you’ve encountered over a lifetime?

Or maybe you just might be thinking how proud you are of yourself for pushing through and not giving up on that last goal?

I want to remind you today that you are what you think about. Thinking these types of positive thoughts have never come natural to me. And it wasn’t until I began meditating on God’s word day and night (Joshua 1:8) that it slowly started to transform my mind.

I tell my 13 year-old daughter all the time, what goes in must come out.

What is going into your mind? What are you reading and who are listening to? What thoughts do you continuously mull over in your mind?

We recently finished up a sermon series at my church “Your Verse” and we learned about how just one simple verse has the potential to change your life. I encourage you to search for that one simple truth in the bible and make it “Your Verse” to lean on throughout your day.

My favorite verse I speak in the mornings {especially when I’m having a hard time} is Psalm 118:24 “This the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

I want to challenge you to start choosing what you think about. Leave a comment below and let me know what you are thinking about today 🙂

Experience Coaching Here

bobolink

Hello Beautiful Friends!

I hope your summer is going super fantastic so far and you are able to enjoy some vacation time with your loved ones.

Many times I get asked questions about my coaching business and what exactly I offer, so today I thought I’d share a little bit with you here. Maybe this is something you might be interested in or possibly it would be a great resource for your friends and family. I love referrals from my awesome readers, so please share. Here’s a little taste of the coaching experience below.

Everyone needs a Coach!

Why?

To get us out of our comfort zone, take action and follow through on our passions that are buried deep within us. A Coach will challenge and hold you accountable to be the best person you can possible be.

Often, without a coach we end up living humdrum stagnate lives just going through the motions day in and day out.

We have all asked ourselves “Why am I here? Is this all there is to life?” But most of the time we just settle back into our routine and never really push ourselves to find out why we are here and how to begin living fully alive.

I will coach you to discover God’s purpose for your life, immediately start living and loving COURAGEOUSLY while learning how to push through resistance. This my friend is called Living the Wholehearted Life.

If you are ready to move forward, I want to coach you!

The focus of our sessions will be centered around:

1. Where am I now?

2. Where am I going?

3. How will I get there?

4. What might get in the way?

Side note, this is not easy work, but I promise the reward is worth it! Here’s what one client had to say…

“When I started working with Linda, I couldn’t really define my goals for coaching. I knew I was feeling overwhelmed and a bit scattered. One of the first things I did was take spiritual gifts assessment. This was my first step in getting some real focus. I realized that I was committed to a number of things that were not bringing me joy, but instead were draining my energy. Over several weeks I gained clarity about my talents and priorities, and was able to regain a sense of serenity, which is priceless!” Cassie C., NJ

Clients who are successful working with me tend to have these qualities:

1. Motivation

2. Desire

3. Commitment

4. Fear (It’s normal to feel afraid when starting something new!)

If you have these four qualities, you are ready to embrace a more passionate wholehearted YOU by beginning the coaching process.

What does each session include? Every woman is different and moving through a unique season of life. Therefore each session is uniquely created to meet her needs.

A typical Coaching Session will include 10 Significant Steps to guide you towards living a passionate wholehearted life:

1.   Begin with prayer ~ I will lead us in prayer by inviting God into each session and asking for His guidance.

2.   Discuss Client Prep Form ~ We will review where you are, and where you want to be in order to achieve your goals.

3.   Client/Coach dialog ~ This is where the rubber meets the road. We will dig deep to bring self-awareness and focus on what it means for you to live wholeheartedly.

4.   Coaching questions ~ As your coach, I will ask you the tough questions that many people around you may be afraid to ask.

5.   Brainstorming ~ Ideas are not just born from your coach. We will discuss together what it means for you to be successful in this program.

6.   Consider possible obstacles ~ Roadblocks, you will have them, they do exist, and there can be a lot of them. I will teach you the tools to remove them and move forward. Often clients use these tools in other areas of their life.

7.   Create an action plan ~ We will agree upon an action plan.

8.   Discuss accountability plan ~ Accountability is the heart of the Coach/Client relationship.

9.   Explore possible assignments between sessions ~ Homework. Depending on your unique situation there may be some assignments that will be done between our sessions.

10. End with prayer ~ As we complete our session, we will praise God. (I do not ask my clients to pray out loud unless they prefer.)

How To Stop Procrastinating

clock.jpg

Do you ever feel guilty for repeating the same bad habits?

Have you ever said, I’m never doing that again, but find yourself doing it anyway?

Are you sick and tired of making promises you cannot keep? {especially to yourself}

Yes, yes and yes!

Sometimes I get so frustrated because I keep making the same stupid mistakes over and over.

“I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate.” Romans 7:15 NLT

Can you relate?

Just last weekend I found myself being that nagging mom that I so desperately do not want to be! Somehow it just slipped right out of me. My daughter is almost 14 years old and well; you get the picture, enough said.

I really don’t want to keep using the excuse of “raging hormones” for me to lose my temper with my daughter and miss divine opportunities to instill meaningful values in her life.

So while I took some time to cool off after another “blow up” I reflected on how I’ve successfully implemented changes in the past and I was quite surprised with what came to mind!

Stop procrastinating and DECIDE to make a change now.

Yep, it’s really that simple!

Any time we make up our mind and DECIDE to make a change we will have success. It might not always turn out exactly how we planned, but we will begin to move forward and transformation will happen. I promise you!

For example, four years ago when I ran my very first half marathon it came down to making a decision or when I felt God calling me to a 40-day juice fast I made the decision to make the commitment.

So what do you need to decide on today?

How will making this decision impact your life one month, six months or even one year from now?

Leave a comment with your decision below. It’s time to make a change now.

For more encouragement and motivation to stop procrastinating watch Andy Stanley’s Release It message here.

A Prayer for Fleshly

hide.jpg

Its time for me to introduce someone I’m quit embarrassed about.

Her name is Fleshly, she is my flesh.

When I get offended, angry or hurt Fleshly might appear out of nowhere to do her thing.

She’s quite the sight to see!

Actually she’s very self-centered and leaves me feeling mortified every time she visits.

She might yell a few ungodly words ranting and raving in her self-righteousness or give you the silent treatment while scheming ways to prove she is right.

Either way, she’s someone I would NEVER EVER want you to see.

The only thing the world needs to see is a snapshot of my picture perfect life, not the real stuff that would disqualify me as a “Christian Life Coach”. Right?

So I thought I would share with you today that I’m not perfect. Of course none of us are perfect but sometimes we compare ourselves with what appears to be perfect.

In the middle of “Fleshly” acting out this week, I reached a breaking point. You know that point where there’s only one place left to go…your knees. While on my knees, this prayer formed in my heart.

If you struggle with a “Fleshly” in your life, I invite you to pray this with me.

If you need prayer, I would love to pray for you. Leave me a comment below.

I will have a few coaching appointments opening up the beginning of June. I want to encourage you that there is hope and a new way of life through Christian Life Coaching. ((hugs))
