Back and forth, back and forth as I rubbed my sweaty palms together.
Breathe. You just need to remember to breathe Linda.
It was almost time for me to enter the classroom for the very first time and I thought I was going to have a panic attack.
This is totally crazy! Why in the world am I freaking out? I speak in front of people all the time. Why is this any different?
Honestly, I was puzzled by how I was physically reacting. I could literally hear my heart beating and I even felt light-headed.
I signed up over a month ago to take a class on public speaking and I was actually very excited about it. It was going to be fun and I was going to learn some new tips for engaging with my audience.
My talks were going to be recordedĀ over the next two days and three exceptional speaking coaches would give me valuable feedback.
And therein lies the problem. FEEDBACK!
Anticipating feedback is what got me all bent out of shape. It sent me into the crazy land of what will ātheyā think about me. I could not believe it, but that sneaky little insecurity bug had bit me once again.
Insecurity is my nemesis. I would give anything to never deal with it again but for some reason it’s one of those things I’ve battled with my entire life.
And what’s even worse is that I just wrote a blog post about this very same thing a few weeks ago.
I wish I could tell you that I took my own advice from that blog and envisioned everyoneās opinions bouncing right off of me as I immersed myself in the holy truth, that I am a talented and gifted daughter of the Most High King. But that would be a BIG FAT LIE!
Nope for the 2 days I was in class I was sweating bullets. I was pretty much a ball of nervous energy. Yep! Little miss Christian Life Coach here really needed to take some of my own advice.
Driving home Friday evening after my last class I was exhausted. I wanted nothing more than to go straight to bed and pull the covers over my head. All my insecurities had just about sucked the life out of me. Seriously! I am not kidding.
I was disappointed that I had struggled so much over the course of a 48 hour period. While I was in class, I really didn’t felt comfortable in my own skin and I sure as heck never landed in my sweet spot while I was speaking. I just felt like a mess.
Itās five days later as Iām writing this blog post and boy oh boy have I gained a new perspective on this whole experience! If you would have asked me last week what my take away was from stepping outside my comfort zone I might have told you, don’t do it! EVER! I’m sure of it.
But today I can say with 100% confidence that I am so stinkin proud of myself for pushing through my fears and leaning into discomfort.
After this experience of stretching myself and stepping waaaay outside my comfort zone, I have a much greater awareness of myself. I learned when you are confident, it radiates through your every word, mannerisms and how you carry yourself. And when I stay connected to my one true source (God) I am the most authentic true self I can possibly be.
Let me tell you, focusing on our imperfections is down right exhausting! And I believe that’s another reason why this class was so hard for me.
But looking back I can now see that when we choose to focus on our strengths, boldness and security we blossom into exactly who God created us to be! With confidence I can say that is where God has me today as I write this post.Ā
Iām challenging you dear reader to examine where you are in life and where you want to be? Are you willing to step outside your comfort zone? What will be the cost of not stretching yourself?
Journal with God: Write in your journal asking God to show you His holy truth about who you are in His eyes. After journaling, read over what He spoke. Spend some time receiving these truths allowing them to soak deep in your heart.

A note from Tracie Miles: āIf you have a particular shame, regret, hurt, tragedy or painful memory that has weighed on your heart for far too long, always preventing you from believing you are loved and treasured by God. Over the years I’ve learned that you cannot give away what you do not have. So the more you respect yourself, the more respect you can give away to others.
One of my core values is to respect God first. Romans 12:1 tells us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. This is your spiritual act of worship.
So how do we offer ourselves as living sacrifices? One way I’ve learned how to do that is by eating healthy, exercising and taking care of myself. This is honoring to God. I don’t claim to do it perfectly. Many times I mess it all up. But then there are days when I seem to get it right.
My prayer today is that each one of us would have a deep longing desire to respect God first with our lives. Leave a comment and share how you will honor God with your life today?

Almost five years ago I learned one of the most valuable lesson of my life.
Every time I think about it I almost have to catch my breath. This lesson lives within the central core of my beliefs, deep in my heart, permanently etched on my mind.
Just five months fresh off of life support and three months out of radiation I joined Team In Training with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to run my very first half marathon. It was thrilling to think about getting my body back into shape after the hell it had been through the previous year with chemotherapy, antibiotics, steroids, paralytics, and many more drugs.
I had no idea how in the world I was going to achieve such an enormous goal, 13.1 miles. But looking back I now see the unique thread that brought this dream of mine to fruition.
I did not understand then what I am fully aware of now.
Accountability works!
Anytime I set out to achieve a goal or even the slightest lifestyle change, the guaranteed formula for a successful result is staying accountable!
Here areĀ 7 Simple Truths to Accountability that will give you a little gut check on why we must invest in accountability.
1) If we want to grow and make a lasting difference in our life we must maintain accountability. It is vital.
2) Accountability means showing up for yourself Āā living your best possible life right now, today!
3) Accountability shows respect towards others, and you are honoring yourself with self-respect when exercising accountability.
4) Accountability oozes from your core values, your character. Integrity. Honesty. Beliefs. Truths. Standards.
5) Accountability means you are stepping up to the plate and taking responsibility for yourself. Thereās no more room for excuses, for blame or for a lack of better words laziness.
6) We are accountable for how we spend our time. We all get 24 hours a day, no one gets more, and no one gets less. Itās our choice how we choose to spend it.
7) And finally accountability and procrastination do not occupy the same space. Which one do you choose to partner with?
Starting February 1st I am offering a FREE 28 Day Accountability Group. This group will be a small community to support and encourage one another. We will grow and learn from each other while moving towards our individual goals. It’s an opportunity to invest in ourselves. If you would like to join us, clickĀ here to sign up. Please invite your friends and share on your social media sites. Don’t crumble up and throw away your 2015 goals yet if you’ve fallen off the wagon because together we can make them happen!

As we are approaching the end of 2014 you might be saying next year āIāll do betterā
Better atā¦.
Exercising
Spending time with God
Eating Healthy
Going to church
Getting organized
Managing my finances
Building my business
Making a career change
Studying the bible
Fill in the blank_____________
But year after year we manage to fall into the same old routine and never really change.
One thing I know for certain iswhen you are ready to make a change in your life you MUST have accountability.
I remember four years ago {before becoming a Christian Life Coach} I set out for the biggest goal of my life ā¦ to run a half marathon 13.1 miles.
Just fresh out of chemotherapy, a coma, life support and radiation this was a pretty crazy and audacious goal.
I wasnāt sure if I really could go through with it, if I really could run 13.1 miles. I was afraid to set such a goal and believe I could do it.
Have you ever been afraid to set a big goal?
As the training began I had two necessary components to insure my success, a coach and accountability.
My coach came along side me and believed in me more than I believed in myself, especially on those days when I was ready to throw in the towel. My coach challenged me to dig deep within myself and connect to my inner strength. My coach encouraged me every time I hit the pavement to give it all I had. But the most important gift my coach gave me was accountability.
Accountability is the secret sauce to success.
Because of my coach and being accountable to someone other than myself I crossed the 13.1-mile finish line on September 5, 2010. A huge victory!
Because of my personal experience in training for my half marathon I discovered the deepest desire of my heart … coaching. Today it is a privilege to serve women around the world as I coach them in achieving their goals. I love my work!
Whether you already have a goal in mind or youāre afraid to even set a goal I want to stretch you today. Dig deep.
What is that one goal you wish more than anything to achieve next year?

Last night as my teenage daughter was sharing her struggles with me, I found myself wanting to talk and give advice so badly. I knew I could help her āfixā things because I am her mom, right? I mean Iāve got 26 years on her. I do think I know a thing or two about being a teenage girl.
As I sat quietly and semi-patiently listening, I thought I was going to bust. I could barely stand it. I even started feeling a little anxious with sweaty palms and shallow breaths. I wiggled in my seat and adjusted my posture several times as I thought to myself, keep your mouth shut and listen to her Linda.
Why in the world is it so hard for us to just sit and listen?
Why do we feel the need to fix, rescue, advise or control when others just simply need to be heard?
I believe when we are faced with experiencing someone elseās pain, it brings up our “stuff”, our deep personal pains.
It takes courage to slow down long enough to become aware of how we are feeling and be present with another.
Thereās an acronym I learned in coaching school that has been an invaluable tool for me as a coach, parent, wife and friend.
WAIT. Why Am I Talking?
When I find myself desperately wanting to talk (because oh how I love to talk!), Iāll say, āWAIT, Why am I talking?ā and that usually quiets me long along to gain self-awareness.
I am then able to ask myself questions like, what are you feeling, why are you uncomfortable or what are you afraid of?
It reminds me of James 1:19,Ā one of those graciously humbling scriptures if you know what I mean? Be quick to listen and slow to speak.
So how can you slow down and practice courage while listening to others today? I would love to hear from you! Leave me a comment below.

My heart is racing. Iām panicking! Where in the heck is all this courage that Iāve been talking about for the last week?
A writing deadline fell out of the sky today. Iām starting to shrink. Iām questioning am I enough? Who do I think I am? Iām not good enough for this assignment? Iām a fake, a wannabe, a phony!
This is the garbage that rattles in my mind.
I have a million things to do. Pick my daughter up from school, get dinner on the table, respond to emails, meet with clientsā¦ I donāt have time for this. I have a list a mile long.
Resistance is taunting me with pretty little lies. Resistance is nothing but a big fat bully!
Then I remember to reach for my secret weapon. She grounds me every time I start to unravel in the whirlwind of ānot enoughā.
I pick up the phone and call my Coach.
She asked me those simple yet profound questions that brought me back to earth, that surrounded me with COURAGE.
Who are you writing for?Ā What is your goal?Ā How can you give yourself compassion in this moment?
My heart rhythm settled into a steady calm and confident beat once again. I found my courage.
What unraveling has fought for your attention lately? How can you find your courage once again? I love hearing from you, comment below.
