On repeat in my office this week! So Will I (100 Billion X) – Hillsong Worship
I’ve shared with you in the past how I’ve personally struggled with anxiety, depression and negative thoughts. I am here to tell you that you do not have to struggle with the same lies I struggle with. Lies of I’m not good enough, I’m never going to be good enough, lies of insecurity, unworthiness, etc. Friends, I have been set free, truly delivered from that mindset and belief. In all honesty I know that it was spiritual what I was dealing with.
As a child early on I partnered and agreed with those lies and negative thoughts. For example, I didn’t think I was smart so I agreed and started calling myself stupid. I carried that all through adulthood. Just over this past year have I really been set free from the lies and insecurities.
Psalm 30:2 says, “Lord my God I called to you for help and you healed me” and Psalm 30:11 tells us “You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.” and that is exactly what God has done in my life.
When I truly called out to the Lord, he set me free! I prayed, “Lord, I no longer stand in agreement and partner with these lies that I’m not good enough. I tell those things to go in the name of Jesus.” I prayed, “lying spirit go in the name of Jesus, unworthiness go in the name of Jesus, insecurity go in the name of Jesus, I no longer partner with those and I choose to partner with you Lord and who you say I am. I am worthy. I am loved. I have nothing to fear.”
And guess what? Today there is no longer insecurity in me. I simply have joy and freedom!
After praying such a simple heartfelt prayer, I have been fully delivered. Today I invite you in to pray with me and after this video, continue in prayer if there is anything that you’ve been holding onto. There is power and freedom in Jesus. I promise!

Citipointe Live is on repeat in my office this week! I love worshipping the Lord!!!
One way to overcome anxiety and depression is to shift your focus. Joyce Meyer has said many times to “get yourself off your mind” and believe it or not, this actually can work! A few months ago when I was with my daughter and she was struggling with feeling a little anxious and a little blah, we came across a gentlemen in a wheelchair on the side of the road. His wheelchair was electric and needed to be charged. He was rolling back into traffic and was going to get hit. My daughter stopped her car and I jumped out to help him up the hill. Long story short, we helped him and gave him money to treat himself because he was having a challenging day. To my surprise my daughter’s mood shifted and all her anxiety and blahs had disappeared.
James 2:14-17 says, “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
When we use faith and action together we can move forward. We pray in faith for the Lord to remove our depression and anxiety, and God’s word encourages us in our faith to accompany it with action. What better way to activate our faith than by getting out there and helping another. Is there someone you can help today? Take notice how you feel afterwards. You will be amazed at how much lighter your mood will be.

I felt the need to create this video for anyone clicking through YouTube possibly struggling with anxiety, depression or suicidal thoughts. I specifically wanted to make this video for you. As a young girl I struggled a lot with my emotions. I really couldn’t put my finger on it but wrestled a good bit with anxiety and depression. When I was in sixth grade I got in a fight with my mom over my hair and ended up taking an entire bottle of sleeping pills. I landed in the hospital for about a week and began therapy. Life was very challenging going through adolescents.
Fast forward to later in life, after having my daughter, I struggled with postpartum depression. The doctor put me on an antidepressant for a few years. For many years I struggled on and off with anxiety and depression and just a roller coaster of emotions. I am no longer on medication and no longer struggle with the depths of anxiety and depression. I do struggle at different times with my moods being up and down, just natural human emotions but I honestly do not have it any more.
The reason I remain healthy and healed is because of God’s word, His truth and His spirit inside of me. I remain confident and healed because whenever I struggle emotionally He is the one that I seek. He is the one that brings clarity, wisdom and healing in my life.
Psalm 23
“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
If you are struggling with anxiety, depression or suicidal thoughts I strongly encourage you to read Psalm 23 out loud over and over and let it get deep within your spirit. Even before you begin to read it ask God what He is speaking directly to you through His words. At times in our life we feel very lonely and feel like we are the only one having a hard time. I am here to tell you that I know that I know that I know that you are never alone and I am never alone. God is with me always. His spirit is inside of me and inside of you. He will speak to you, direct your paths, comfort you and protect you.
Simply speak the name of Jesus and healing will begin immediately.
“By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know has been made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through Him that has given him this complete healing in your presence.” Acts 3:16

This song was on my heart as I wrote this post today. Enjoy listening and sitting in His Presence.
As a 42-year-old woman I can honestly say I’ve spent at least half of my life or more attempting to find ways to be “healthy”. Like most people I start something new and think I’m going to stick with itthis time and then fall off the wagon at some point and find myself at square one all over again.
On top of all the try again stop again yo-yoing; I end up feeling bad about myself while negative self-talk and defeating thoughts begin to weigh me down.
Can you relate?
But something dawned on my recently after a spiritual retreat I hosted. For the last twenty plus years I’ve practiced one healthy habit through ever trial, heartache, triumph and victory that has consistently brought me to better health. And with this practice I can honestly say I would not be the person I am today without it. It’s something that I don’t do every single day of my life, but it is something I reach for in times of deep struggle, frustration, anxiety and in times of reflection, hope, prayer, planning and dreaming.
The one healthy habit that continues to change my life and has for years is journaling.
There is no specific way to journal, it’s simply picking up a pen and putting it to paper. It can be one word or hundreds of words. You simply let your heart, mind and emotions lead you. I want to encourage you that even if you’re someone who does not like to write, you must give it a try!
I promise this is one new healthy habit that will propel you forward beyond anything you can imagine. Grab a journal and pen today!
I would love to hear from you. Leave me a comment and let me know one of your healthy habits.

Will you join me in removing the stigma of mental illness?
Transformation Church and Rick & Kay Warren are passionate about the body of Christ coming together and removing the stigma society has placed on mental illness. Six years ago when I had cancer I received an outpouring of unconditional love and support even from strangers while I was sick, but I dare to say if I was struggling from mental illness I would receive the same support.
Kay Warren delivered a powerful message at Transformation Church last Sunday. Watch here. “Research shows 1 in 5 children and 1 in 5 adults in America will be affected by mental illness in a given year. Although millions of people are impacted by mental illness, people often feel isolated, alone, and unsure of where to turn for help and hope.” Saddleback Church will be having a special event The Gathering on Mental Health & The Church on October 7–9, 2015. Click here to register.
Leave me a comment and let me know if you personally have struggled or know someone struggling with mental illness. Let’s talk about this, support one another and remove the stigma!
