Week 1 – Setting Your Goal

Guess what my goal is?

I am training for the Savannah Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon on November 8, two days before my book release!

This will be my third half marathon. My first two events I ran with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training and they were amazing experiences! But I must confess, after the second event I said I would NEVER EVER run a half marathon again because I did not have the same experience as the first event. I had slacked off in my training and as a result I was pretty miserable running 13.1 miles the second time around.

It’s very import that we get focused and serious about our goals here. If you are here on my blog, I really want you to make a commitment for the next 12 weeks. I don’t want you to commit half way, but fully commit. Let’s do this together!

In the comments below I want you to write out your SMART Goal. For example here’s mine!

Specific: Run 13.1 miles

Measurable: Nov. 8, 2015 (2 days before Worthy of a Miracle book release!!!)

Attainable: Planned wisely (Meeting with a running coach and allowed adequate time to train.)

Realistic: Yes, I am willing and able.

Timely: 12 week time frame

SMART-Goals

Everyone who comments will be entered to WIN What Happens When Women Say Yes To God devotional by Lysa TerKeurst. Winner announced next Tuesday! I’m so excited to have you running alongside me the next 12 weeks as we accomplish our goals together.

YOU ROCK!!!

How a 40-Day Juice Fast Trained Me to Write a Book

A few years ago in my quiet time I felt the Lord speaking to me and said I needed to do a 40 day juice fast. I had never fasted before in my life. I told God there was no way I could do it. It was too much. No food, just juice? This sounded crazy!

At the time He was speaking to my heart about writing a book and in preparation for this book I needed to honor what He was asking of me. Luke 16:10 came to mind “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much. Whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”

Today I’m thrilled to share with you that I did write the book. I believe because of walking in obedience and being faithful with the small things (such as food) God taught me how to follow through so that I could complete such a large assignment … writing a book.

What is God asking you to give to Him? What little thing is He asking you to trust Him with? Leave a comment. I would love to pray for you.

Journal with God: Write Luke 16:10 in your journal and share with God what little thing you will trust Him with today.

1 Simple Way to Follow Through

How do we follow through on our goals?

I learned from my Pastor this weekend an invaluable nugget of wisdom that can potentially change everything for you.

We know how to set goals and routines and patterns to achieve them. So why is it so hard to actually follow through with our goals?

The problem is not the goal or the routine itself,

cupcake

For example, my goal is to eat healthy, however when I get emotional I respond by eating junk food {cupcakes} which is completely opposite of my goal. In order to achieve my goal, I must change the pattern of my response. Make sense?

What responses do you need to change in your life in order to achieve your goals? I would love to hear from. Leave a comment below.
