How Not To Quit {this time}

Often when I think about planning for my future, coming up with a vision for my life or even setting a goal I tend to feel apprehensive and sometimes even down right afraid.

I know that might sound funny coming from a life coach, but it’s true.

It’s exciting to think about a new beginning and starting with a clean slate, but then that nagging little voice pops up, “What if you fail? What if you don’t follow through again? What if people think…”

All those insecurities crowd my thoughts and then the next thing you know I quit before ever getting started!

Can you relate? Does any of this sound familiar?

Last year I found a way to overcome this whole debacle of goal setting, follow through and not quitting. You really won’t believe how easy it is.

simplybelieve

Yep! I simply chose to believe.

Believe what? That I will do better this time? That I will have more will power, that I will not be a quitter.

No not at all.

Instead, I told those nagging little voices of what ifs exactly what they were to me, a LIE!

I politely told the “what if” family they were no longer welcomed in my mind and they would have to take up residence elsewhere.

They were EVICTED!

Eagerly I opened up the door and welcomed the truth {God’s word} to move in and take up permanent residence in my mind.

Romans 12:2 is one of my favorite occupants. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

When I felt down in the dumps or could not see the outcome I would knock on truth’s door and simply choose to believe.

Because of my new thoughts I completed a gigantic goal, writing a book.

Sweet friend, I am inviting you today to simply choose to believe. Believe God’s beautiful truth for you. His promises for you. Believe my prayer for you.

Heavenly Father, I pray that everyone who reads this post will simply choose to believe and remain confident of this, that You who began a good work in them will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Phil 1:6) I pray for your abundance to overflow in their lives. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

What are your goals? What are your fears? Leave a comment; I would love to pray for you!

The Secret to Miracles

miraclesbloom.jpg

Last week I wrote about living this summer with intention, and so far so good.

I love living with intention!! It’s making a big difference. I hope it is for you too.

I’ve already had some time in the sun with my daughter laughing and playing in the pool and we actually pulled out an old game a few nights ago after dinner. It was amazing to see the difference in our mood that evening. We all seemed a little lighter.

We have been laughing a lot more lately too!

I would like to give all the credit to “being intentional” however that’s not where the credit is due.

A few weeks ago, I started praying for my family. Not some long eloquent profound prayers, just sincere prayers from my heart.

And guess what?

The more I pray, the more I see God answering.

We’ve all heard it time and time again that there is power in prayer, but do we really live our daily lives believing the REAL POWER in prayer?

I really believe with every ounce of me that prayer is the fertile soil where miracles bloom.

This week I want to challenge you to step up your prayer life. What is your heart longing for? What needs to change in your life or in a loved ones life that only God can do?

Seek the Lord with all your heart and expect to see miracles today. That’s why Jesus came, so that we may have life and enjoy it to the fullest.

“If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you!” Luke 17:6 NIV

Pray in faith today sweet Sisters. He is waiting for you.

I love hearing from you. Leave a comment below.

How to turn that frown upside down in 5 minutes or less

girlslaugh.jpg

Over the past few weeks, I’ve tried a little experiment that literally turned my frowns upside down within minutes.

Every time I found myself feeling a little discouraged in my day, I intentionally stopped what I was doing, reached for my phone and called someone to lift them up.

Most of the time I would get a voicemail, but instead of hanging up I left them a heartfelt message encouraging them and flattering them with oodles of love.

I was AMAZED at the results!

I immediately felt like a brand new person!

I felt happy, hopeful, and down right ECSTATIC!!

Will you try this experiment today? Leave a comment below and let me know how it works for you.

I currently have a waiting list, however I have a few appointments opening up in late April. I want to encourage you that there is hope and a new way of life through Christian coaching. ((hugs))

The 5 Letter Word…we all feel.

5letterword

Shame.

I’ve wrestled with this word my entire life. I’ve tried to run away from it, but to no avail I sink in the slimy pit of this five-letter word desperately fighting my way out.

Shame suffocates.

Shame blames.

Shame cuts like a knife.

Shame isolates.

Shame feels like hell on earth.

There’s no way around it. We all feel shame. It’s part of who we are. It began in the garden with Adam and Eve. Do you remember their first response to God after they ate from the forbidden tree?

They hid! They felt shame.

We are not alone in this human emotion. Everybody has it. We all face it over and over every single day.

After so many years of avoiding the topic of shame, I finally came to terms with how much I’ve suffered from it. I decided I was sick and tired of the struggle, so I faced it head on. Dealing with it has literally transformed my life.

A while ago, I stepped out in faith and connected with a group of women to discuss shame. I learned very quickly that I’m not alone in my struggles.

I became EMPOWERED from making one intentional decision to connect with others instead of hiding. This snowballed into making more intentional decisions such as allowing myself to feel when I am hurt, instead of reaching for a box of cookies. Just the other day, when I was feeling discouraged I picked up the phone and scheduled a massage.

It is a very rare that I take the time for such luxury and pampering as a massage. As I’ve been learning exactly what it means to be courageous it’s rearranging my entire outlook on life. It’s empowering.

I want to challenge you today to step into courage with me. Be intentional. What can you do for yourself today that you’ve desperately needed for quite some time?

Humble Pie Recipe

truleechelsea2

Let me start with a confession. God has been telling me “think before you speak” my entire life! It all started in elementary school. Every report card read, “Linda talks too much in class.” Honestly, I resented that all my teachers had the same thing to say about me.

In all sincerity, I know I still talk too much even at 39. I cannot help myself, sometimes I get so passionate about what is in my heart that my brain checks out and my mouth runs the show.

I remember a pastor once said, “Your heart could be right, but your mind can be wrong.”  And ever since hearing that revelation God has given me way too many opportunities to live that out in my daily life. As a result I’ve created the perfect recipe for Humble Pie!

All it takes is a heart for Jesus and sprinkle it with a little self-righteousness and voilà, you have Humble Pie my friend.

So what do you do when get that sick humbling reality check after you’ve totally messed up?

Do you shrink? Do you beat yourself up with shame? Do you resent or blame others for your slip-ups? Or do you reach for the truth? God’s honest truth.

Most of the time I do everything BUT search for the truth. I really don’t know why, but I’m naturally more comfortable with resisting the truth.

Psalm 139:4&5 (CEB) reads, “There isn’t a word on my tongue, Lord, that you don’t already know completely. You surround me –– front and back. You put your hand on me.”

When I read this scripture I couldn’t help but shout THANK YOU JESUS! No matter what I say, no matter what!?!, God already knows it. He knows exactly where my heart is and the best part of it all is His hand of blessing is on me no matter what stupid words end up coming out of my mouth.  I don’t know about you, but this scripture shifted my thinking from self-condemnation to possibly self-affirmation.

I would love to hear any of your personal humble pie stories or recipes! Leave a comment below.

How To Connect With God

disconnected

Do you ever find yourself so distant from God you don’t even know where or how to connect with him?

Sometimes I feel it is nearly impossible to get even a tiny glimpse of his presence.  When that happens I find it is real easy to get off track quickly.  I end up sleeping in a little later the next day and skipping my daily quiet time.  Not before long I can look back and see it’s been days since I’ve encountered God and I find myself in a bit of a funk!

There are so many ways to develop our relationship with God, however we must be intentional and possibly even strategic about it.

Matthew 18:20 says, “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”

One powerful way to build your relationship with God is by connecting with other believers.  Going to church and bible study is wonderful, however to really dig deeper in your relationship with God, I recommend finding one or two other people in your life to pray with.

If you’re like me, I thought at one time, there is no way I’m going to pray out loud.  I was afraid I was not eloquent or spiritual enough to rattle off a prayer in front someone else.  However, I found out this is where real intimacy with God is created.  The Holy Spirit is most powerful in our vulnerabilities.  This is where our authentic relationship with God reveals to us that it’s not about “doing” or “saying” but simply just being in his presence.

Who can you pray with today?  I want to encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and see how God will reveal himself to you with a deeper connection.  I would love to hear from you!

Desperate

desperate2

What are you desperate for?

I can tell you what I’m desperate for, simply being content with me!

I struggle all to often trying to be something I’m not.  I came to that “aha” moment just this week as I was talking with my life coach.  I discovered that I have been trying to be anything and everything else but ME!

There’s not one particular person I’m trying to be like, rather it’s that image social media tells us we should be.  We are constantly engaged on the Internet and overwhelmed with the latest and greatest expert on any given subject.  And the more I learn from these remarkable influences, there’s a little recording that plays in the back of my mind repeating, ”You’ll never be as good as them, who do you think you are, do you really think you have something to offer?”

My heart has been in the right place all along, to love and encourage women to achieve God’s purpose in their lives. My mind however has been overwhelmed with comparison of the next best thing out in social media land.

Jesus said in John 15:7, If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you.

Truth be told, I’ve been asking whatever I wish and not seeing the results come thru.

Why?

Because I’ve been remaining in the world’s standards instead of remaining in Christ.  My thoughts have been focused on what others are doing instead of what God is doing in me.  Surprisingly enough after grasping the concept of this truth and remaining in Christ, I now feel content with ME!  Isn’t it funny when we actually apply scripture to our lives it really does work!

What have you been desperately asking God for and not receiving?

Who will you choose to remain in?

Click the comment link below and share your thoughts with me.  I love hearing from you and how I can pray for you!  And also knowing I’m not alone in this crazy thing called life 🙂
