God Needs You

When I was journaling this week, I asked God, “What do you think about me?” His response was filled with such loving and sweet life-giving words that it made me feel seen, chosen, unique, and very needed in the world. As He spoke to me through pen on paper, His presence overwhelmed me with peace.

I continued to write in my journal, and I knew the words were not only for me, but for YOU, yes YOU dear reader. I believe God is speaking to you as you read these words right now and this is what He is longing for you to know …

Your life matters. Your voice matters. Your words matter. Your story matters. I need you. I need you to use all your unique gifts to reach the people I’ve chosen for you to reach. I need every child of mine to use their gifts so that I can speak through them. Every voice put together creates my megaphone to the world!

Friend, do you hear that God needs you? He needs me. He needs us to be His mouthpiece to the world.

One-way God often speaks to us is through an echo. When we hear something over and over that is a way God is speaking to us. For example, when you hear a message from a pastor or leader and later you find yourself in a conversation with a friend and you hear them repeating the same thing, that is God speaking and confirming His voice through the echo of another.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve compared yourself to so many others in the world. I’ve had thoughts like my voice really doesn’t matter or look at how successful they are, little ole me is not “that important”. Can you relate? Well friend, that is just not true. Those are lies the enemy likes to whisper in our ear. The truth is, we do matter and God needs us! It is a great big world and God needs every single one of us on the battlefield speaking life and love into others.

So my friend, what will you do with this revelation? I want to invite you to grab a journal and ask God. Maybe begin by writing out one of these questions to Him:

God, what do you think about me?

God, what gifts do you see in me?

God, whose life do I need to speak into today?

After writing out a question to God, continue writing. He will speak to you. I recently finished the book Dialog With God: Opening The Door To Two-Way Prayer in my KINEO Ministry Training Class. I highly recommend it to learn more about journaling with God.

On January 12 this year I was sitting in this audience at a Women’s Conference listening to Pastor Karen Smith preach on strongholds of the mind. I had no idea that moments later my life would be completely radically transformed and I WOULD NEVER BE THE SAME! That I would be supernaturally touched by God’s tangible Presence and that would propel my life forward to operate in miracles, signs and wonders as my heart had always desired. From my journal … this conversation is for YOU my friend.

I receive this gift today. I receive this life, my body, my mind, my health. Thank you Lord. Thank you for the millions of blessings around me every day. Give me eyes to see your gifts and ears to hear your ways. Lord help me not to take for granted this life. Help me to just live today, soak it all up and truly love all of it. Lord there is nothing to fear because eternity awaits. Help me be the messenger of your love to a hurting world. Let that always be my focus. Forgive my selfish ways. Give me images of heaven to focus on and live for. Fill my mind and spirit with all your peace, love and joy. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

How Are You Doing Friend?

Hi sweet friend!

How have you been doing this summer?

Seriously, how have you really been this summer?

A few days ago I received an unexpected text message from a very good friend of mine that I haven’t seen in a while. This is how the conversation went.

{Friend} Hi Linda! How’s your summer going?

{Me} Great! How about yours?

{Friend} I’ve had a tough few weeks but got a new perspective so I’m doing much better now! …..

As the conversation continued, I became aware that my first response was completely superficial. I had my guard up, but in the pit of my stomach I knew everything had not been what I would call “great”. For some reason though I felt the need to come across as happy-go-lucky, life is perfect.

Have you ever done that?

Sometimes I think we get it in our minds that because we are Christians we need to appear like we’ve got it all together.

And you know what’s even worse than that?

When we approach our relationship with God in the same manner. Even though God knows us way better than we know ourselves, keeping this kind of wall up is really not good for the heart.

Do you happen to have any walls up? 

Really think about it for a moment. Search your soul. Is there anything that might be a little blocked off?

If so, I want to encourage you today to let your guard down and spill your guts out to God.

All you need to do is find a quiet place where you can meet with Him alone. Talk to him. I mean really talk to Him, out loud just as if He was sitting across from you. Don’t be afraid to share with Him what’s been pulling at your heartstrings these past few weeks. Don’t hold anything back. You might even need to shed a few tears.

Then, wait and listen to see what He has for you.

{Remember He is always our greatest counselor and comforter. He watches over us, instructs us and teaches us in the way we should go.} Psalm 32:8
